Congratulations to Sanger Unified School District, this week’s AllThingsPLC featured district! Rick and Becky DuFour have chosen Sanger because of its great success with the PLC process:

"When Sanger USD in Sanger, California, was placed in Program Improvement because of consistently low student achievement, Superintendent Marcus Johnson made it clear that the strategy for addressing the issue was to develop the capacity of staff in every school to function as members of PLCs. The districtwide commitment to the PLC process has led to dramatic results. The district’s Academic Performance Index rose from 657 in 2004 to 805 in 2010. In 2004, only two of the fifteen schools in the district performed in the top half of the state when compared to similar schools, five scored in the bottom 10 percent, and three more were in the bottom 20 percent. By 2010, all of the schools in the district were in the top 30 percent when compared to similar schools, and nine were in the highest decile. Michael Fullan selected Sanger USD as one of four districts in North America for a video series demonstrating successful improvement implementation throughout an entire district."
